Gordonstone coal
preparation plant upgrade
This upgrade for Gordonstone Coal Management Pty Ltd increased the
throughput of the plant at Emerald, Queensland, Australia, to 1 000
t/h. It consisted of the addition of two 5 m diameter Jameson cells
and an 85 m² horizontal belt vacuum filter to Module 2 of the plant
and the installation of 1 000 mm diameter dense media cyclones and
banana screens for drain and rinse. The upgrade was designed to cause
minimal interruption to the plants coal production and the installation
was scheduled to coincide with planned shutdowns of the long-wall
mining equipment.
Gregory fines plant
upgrade
The fine coal dewatering system of the Gregory Mine, Emerald, Queensland,
Australia was upgraded for BHP Coal Pty Ltd by replacing the three
existing drum filters with a single 109 m² horizontal belt vacuum
filter.
Newstan coal preparation
plant upgrade
BATEMAN, in joint venture with Concrete Constructions, upgraded the
Newstan coal preparation plant at Lake Macquarrie, NSW, Australia,
for Powercoal Pty Ltd. The overall plant capacity was increased from
450 to 700 t/h and simultaneous production of coking and thermal coal
was achieved.
Saxonvale Coal
project
BATEMAN, in joint venture with Concrete Constructions, completed
the fast-track lump-sum upgrade of the Saxonvale plant, Hunter Valley,
NSW, Australia, for Oakbridge Limited. The preparation plant was modified
from a single to a two product, two module dense media separation
(DMS) plant. This was the first Australian plant to use banana screens
exclusively in a DMS circuit. The raw stockpile capacity was increased
to 120 00 tonne and an innovative mass-flow system applied to handle
the sticky clay bearing materials, the first time mass-flow reclaim
was used in an Australian coal application. The mine production has
increased from 4,5M to 10M t/yr .
Springvale coal
preparation plant upgrade
Under an EPCM contract from Springvale Coal Services, the washing
capacity of the plant at Lithgow, NSW, Australia, was increased from
100 to 300 t/h. The upgrade was executed with minimal disruption of
plant production.
Stratford coal
preparation plant upgrade
The upgrade of the existing Stratford coal preparation plant, Hunter
Valley, NSW, Australia, was conducted for CIM Resources under a lump-sum
turnkey contract. The upgrade included the installation of two Jameson
flotation cells, a horizontal-belt vacuum filter and a teetered bed
separator. The latter was the first installation of this type in Australia.
Portnets
new dry bulk terminal load-out station
The new BATEMAN load-out station at the Port of Richards Bay, RSA,
and an Elbram train mover were handed over to Portnet at a ceremony

the adjudication of tenders from several top ranking world contenders.
BATEMAN load out
stations
Two BATEMAN load out stations for rapid bulk loading of particulate
materials into moving trains were recently installed, one at Richards
Bay, RSA and the other at Moranbah, Australia. They both use the flask
loading system and BATEMANs materials flow technology was used
during design to ensure blockage free operation. Email
